Hy-Vee 5150 US Champs
Athletes at the 5150 Bela Bela Triathlon to be held on the 25th August 2012 will compete for slots/ranking points for the 2013 Hy-Vee/ 5150 US Champs.
Age Group slots
The 5150 Bela Bela Triathlon will be the first race in the 5150 series where slots will be available for the 2013 Hy-Vee/ 5150 Champs. This includes the age group elite category and age group category.
The WTC will invite the top ten males and females in each category to enter the Hy-Vee/ 5150 US Champs. Athletes will have a limited time to take up this offer.
Should your age group change from the year of qualifying to the following year of the championship race, then you will race the latter in the new/older age group (and not the one that you have qualified in).
Elites/Professionals Points
The world's top 30 elite men and women will battle for their stake of the largest-ever prize purse in triathlon. Series points need to be accumulated over the year to make it into the top 30 to participate in the Hy-Vee/ 5150 US Champs, scheduled for the 2nd of September in Des Moines, Iowa.
The 5150 Bela Bela Triathlon will be the first race in the 5150 series to accumulate points ranking [PR] for 2013 championship event and carries the same point’s weight as the New York City Triathlon, the 5150 Zurich Triathlon, the Boulder Peak Triathlon and the Miami International Triathlon.

* The Hy-Vee 5150 Championship event will not open registration until after the first qualifying event in Sri Lanka. You cannot register for the Hy-Vee 5150 Championship without qualifying for the event. Hy-Vee does have general age group waves that will not be part of the 5150 U.S. Championship.
